If you’re looking for a festive treat that’s full of charm, laughs, and local pride, WeeDickie McWhittington at the Kings Theatre in Kirkcaldy is the show for you. The venue itself is a wee gem—intimate, cosy, and packed with atmosphere. The bar has you covered whether you’re after a coffee or hot chocolate for the kids or a little “fally-doon juice” to get you through the evening (it is panto season, after all!). The friendly, welcoming staff set the tone perfectly before the curtain rises.
And then the magic begins... what an absolute cracker of a show! With a small cast, crew, and budget, you might wonder how they pull it off—but pull it off they do, and in style. Billy Mack brings old-school panto humour to life, with heaps of cheeky innuendo that might fly a little over the kids’ heads (or leave parents nervously laughing), but that’s part of the fun. Robin McKenzie delivers standout musical moments that hit all the right notes, while Sarah Brown Cooper expertly holds everything together—oh yes she does!
It’s festive, funny, and unapologetically Kirkcaldy.
From local nods to Fife Jammer Locations to the Mercat coming to the rescue, it’s clear this show is made in Kirkcaldy, played in Kirkcaldy, and very much for Kirkcaldy. Don’t let it “get behind you”—grab a seat while you can and treat yourself to a wonderful, laughter-filled night out. Well done to the whole team for delivering a show that truly sparkles with community spirit.
